Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Jan. 20th, 2015 06:31 pmI saw this film for the first time last Friday. I'm somewhat surprised to have missed it before as it was first shown in 1988 when I managed to see most things at the cinema. However, I finally caught up with it 27 years later.
It is a comedy about rivalry between con artists. It's aged moderately well and I really liked it. Michael Caine's character in particular was nicely drawnnot least because he had the ability to laugh at himself and accept a defeat gracefully . I was less fond of Steve Martin's character - but I think that's supposed to be the case. The ending was something of a surprise (we were expecting it to turn out differently - actually the way that the original version Bedtime Story ends according to Wikipedia) but nicely done.
Overall - recommended.
