I particularly didn't like Mohinder getting a power - I felt the way 'mundanes' like Mohinder and Noah could hold their own was a valuable ingredient of the first series.
Technically, he gets a power in three - I agree regardless of the timing though. The actor didn't want Mohinder to have a power either, he's on the commentaries in season one saying he hopes the character doesn't get one. About the only thing I liked about Sylar's return is how he came back without a power - and still kicked a*se, proving that it could be done.
But the big irritations were

I think for this series a braver script team would have given us a new bad guy, cut some of the series one characters and brought in more interesting replacements.
Kring has since gone on record to say that the networks wouldn't let them do this (it's at the end of my season four commentary). Although, who and to what extent the networks would have objected to removing is less clear. He actually wanted to replace everyone (which I don't agree with - and also say in that post), but a bit more in and out would have been good.
