Episode 11.
Summary: Claire admits her ability to Mr Bennett and he tells her to hide it. Peter wakes up in custody when Nathan comes to get him. However Nathan turns into Sylar and talks about power at which point it becomes apparent that Peter is having another vision (or possibly just dreaming, but I doubt they'd show that). Matt and Audrey interrogate Peter, during which Peter absorbs Matt's ability setting up painful feedback to both of them. Matt realises that Peter is telling the truth about Claire being Sylar's target and they leave. Isaac wakes up, clean, but just sketching. Eden tells him to go change the world leaving him a mobile phone and the company card. Isaac then phones Hiro who, with Ando, is in the process of inspecting the aftermath at the school (believing to have failed as Jackie is dead). The three consequently meet at the diner and Isaac realises that he has been sketching the future without the drugs. They then move to a motel/hotel room and Isaac proceeds to draw Hiro facing a dinosaur. Mr Bennett talks to Sylar in his cell where it becomes apparent that he knows Sylar's original name and that Sylar knows Claire is Mr Bennett's daughter. Audrey interrogates Claire but, with the Haitian in the corridor, Matt is unable to read her mind. Claire asks to see Peter, then has the opportunity to exchange information with him about her ability and his hope to save the world through her. Jessica shoots DL, but he escapes into the woods with Micah. There she switches back to Niki and goes to help. However, she switches to Jessica again and hurts Micah in her efforts to get to DL. Switching back again when she sees what she has done, Niki realises that she can not control Jessica and gives herself in to the police for murder. Matt and Audrey trace Mr Bennett back to the company and, on seeing him in the Haitian's company, Matt recognises the latter and realises that the two have something to do with his missing memories. Meanwhile, having learned from Claire who knows about her, Mr Bennett gives orders to the Haitian to wipe Lyle, Zack and Claire. The Haitian does the first two but, on reaching Claire, tells her it is important she remember and he asks her if she can keep a secret. Eden has decided what to do about Sylar and rings Mohinder to say that she will tell him everything, but first she needs to kill the man who killed his father. She goes in and gives the command to Sylar, but he appears to be immune, telekinesises her through the glass barrier into reach and then claims to be able to take her power. However she shoots herself in the head first. Finally, Nathan really arrives to free Peter, but on leaving the station, Peter gets a vision of himself exploding and collapses.
Comments: Farewell Eden - I'll miss you. The main plot, the follow-on from Save The Cheerleader, is a fantastic piece of work as most of the characters have been involved and it's the opportunity to see what the "saving" development does (they don't, for example, all meet up). However, the two plotlines which aren't involved look rather dull in comparison. Mohinder is, admittedly, barely on screen but spends almost the whole time talking into the telephone trying to get someone to take his list seriously. Niki/DL/Micah, on the other hand, came across as the dullest part of the episode despite there being a fair amount happening. One lovely stand-out moment from this episode is when the Haitain asks Claire if she can keep a secret; it's the first sign that he's not entirely in the Company's control. Finally, the explosion is given an identity - but I got to the end of the episode and then wondered whether the explosion would be stopped and whether it would indeed be Peter.
Character absences: None.
Claire/Zack /Lyle/Haitian/Mr Bennett: As I said above, lovely stuff with the Haitian. Particularly on the back of Zack and Lyle being wiped - Claire has no-one else. Also, an interesting turnaround to an episode which begins with Mr Bennett owning up to knowing; implying that he was going to bring Claire into his secrets, but then shows he has no intention of doing so.
Peter/Matt/Claire: The feedback between Peter and Matt both using mindreading abilities was a lovely touch. Also the scene between Peter and Claire was good too - although Peter could have explained about his own ability rather than simply saying he had just started healing.
Hiro/Ando/Isaac/Eden: I don't know what it is about Isaac; well, perhaps I do, he doesn't get much in the way of a sympathetic role. But, anyway, I found it hard to be pleased, or even bothered, that he was now clean. Otherwise, the meet-up between him and the Japanese duo was good. Two nice lines as well - Ando: "I wish Destiny would lose our number" and Hiro (on seeing the dinosaur painting): "I really need to find that sword". Isaac tells them about Sylar being caught but not about Claire being saved (having got to the school and heard about Jackie, they think Peter failed). However, the Claire part may happen off-screen. Isaac certainly knows as Eden has told him and said his gift saved her (after he tells Eden that Peter did).
Eden/The Haitian/Mr Bennett/Sylar: Eden tells Mr Bennett to have Sylar killed and finishes with another line I liked "You know I'm right and, if that... Haitian... could speak, he'd tell you I'm right!" Sylar proves he can get under Mr Bennett's skin here as well along with comments about how Mr Bennett must see himself. Finally, I wasn't sure when I first saw this whether Eden or Sylar had effectively killed Eden. I've since read that Eden shot herself to prevent Sylar studying her brain and getting her power, but I still find it an ambiguous scene.
Sylar/Peter: Mr Bennett tells Sylar that he's the first Hero they've found with more than one ability, but that the multiple abilities appear to be corrupting his DNA and his mind and sending him insane (I forget the exact wording). However, Peter is the one who is getting ill - is this a subtle reference to the fact that too many powers have put him on overload here?
Mohinder/ /Eden: The poor actor spends the entire time alone, speaking into his phone. Otherwise, only his exchange with Eden is relevant. And a sad ending to that romance.
Nathan: Sylar-Nathan gets far more air-time than real Nathan and, interestingly, both are dressed the same. There's a reference to Nathan's excellent contacts when Audrey tells Peter "Your brother is well-connected, even down here. We had to climb over six lawyers to get to you Mr Petrelli."
Niki/Jessica/DL/Micah: The nice part about the arrest is that it finally gets the plot moving along here. Following on from Isaac, DL is another one to get a raw deal from the writers - although, in his case, he comes across as too fluffy.
Matt/Mr Bennett/The Haitian: After his conversation with Ted back in (checks) Seven Minutes to Midnight (three episodes ago), Matt's found the Haitian and is identifying the Company. Nice to see this moving now.
