At some point, I need to do some gardening. This has been the first Sunday in a while I've been in and it's been warm enough (and not raining). However, I suspect I'm going to leave it for a bit longer and do some game notes instead.
Not much has happened over the last week, but a couple of things spring to mind as entry-worthy:
Not much has happened over the last week, but a couple of things spring to mind as entry-worthy:
- Buried Fire (very mild spoilers) - I read this in a couple of days. It's by Jonathan Stroud (Bartimaeus Trilogy) and it got reasonable reviews on Amazon. It's a one concept book really, but the idea is played out nicely and he's consequently written a shortish book rather than padding the whole thing out further. The protagonists are interesting as I found it hard to empathise greatly with any of them (there are two main ones, but it's also written from other viewpoint), but still cared about what would happen to them. I prefer his Bartimaeus stuff, but this wasn't bad.
- Final Fantasy Tribute Game - After a several month hiatus, we got back to the business of
plotting Shirley's deathSaving the WorldSaving the World from Shirley. Unfortunately we still had problems with the whole question of How. So... we did what any players would do in same situation and started playing around with the items we had so far (lumps of paradox). And asking all the NPCs for guidance again (useless bunch). In the end we left the hard part of the question in favour of solving the easier one; grabbed Shirley and pulled her out of the major time stream. Which means that we are now able to kill her. We think. OK, time has collapsed in her absence, but that's an issue I'm sure we can suss now we've got the big stuff sorted.
