Title: Natural birth 'may aid baby bond'

Wrong. This is not a natural birth, this is a vaginal birth. A natural birth would be one where the mother (and beeb) had a much greater chance of dying throughout the process.

Sigh.

12 women in a test. That's definitely going to produce conclusive results. *double sigh*

Yes... I've never quite understood why, if you're going to all the bother doing a proper scientific test, you'd limit it to a really small number. I guess maybe the sort of brain-scans required are expensive (or it's hard to find volunteers - in which case you've already broken your impartial selection thingy by only measuring people who agree to have Scary Brain Scanning done).

Oh dear. I think I must have blanked that bit out.

In this particular case, because the researchers weren't impartial because they already knew what they expected to find. The result was already "known" from animal studies.

I can't figure this story out. They're tying the hormones to the contractions -- but don't most Caesareans happen after the woman has already been in labor? I mean, both sets of moms would experience contractions? I know *I* experienced 24 hours of them before my c-section...

I think this study is directed at voluntary c-sections, which are generally scheduled for at least a couple of days before the doctors believe labor will begin.

Hello, you've reached Kirian's brain. Unfortunately she's too furious to form a sentence right now, but if you'd like to continue to discuss, she'll get back to you as soon as she can.

BEEEEEEEEEEEP

Oh dearie me, what crap science on SOOOOOOO many levels.

Not a word about why the ladies who had "voluntary sections" chose to do so (nearly bled to death last time, did we, madam? How'd you like that again, or maybe...." )

A stupidly tiny sample, a badly worded report...Oh, can we just say "duhhhhh" and be done with it?

(PS bet the report and especially the title was written by a bloke).
