May. 8th, 2002 01:46 pmSpent a pleasant Saturday in Oxford - without the twins. We went for a walk around the East Oxford parks (Feltham has no pretty green bits), visited Templars (house full of consoles and games) and had nice dinner (and wine) with Liz and Ralph. It was nice to feel child-less again, and I think that the baby-sitting granny was equally happy ;-)
On Sunday we finally stomped all over the Dark Lord - dropping his ring in Mount Doom after several expansion-set flavour attempts. Two hobbits were bravely sacrificed on the way (my own - Pippin - included) to victory. Martin will finally be able to sleep without thinking up devious hobbit-related plans. Probably.
Last night Mum babysat whilst we went to see the Panic Room. It was an enjoyable experience, and had a good enough plot that we enjoyed picking holes in its logic on the way home. I suspect I may prefer it to the Star Wars episode 2 - Attack of the Clones. The trouble with Star Wars films is that they have a lot to live up to, and episode 1 just didn't.
Tonight two of my (former) staff are coming over to see me and meet the twins. Ryan and Bea were bathed and dressed in some of their nicer stuff for the occasion. Ryan has contributed by losing a bootee and having a bad night, but hopefully he'll manage to behave when they actually arrive. However, the house needs a bit of a tidy-up before they arrive...
