As I have said in every review, The Tarot series is, sadly, discontinued and therefore is not described on the BPAL site.
Ace of Wands
Review one1 reads: "The tarot blends are so complex, they’re very difficult for me to describe. This one is appropriately fiery, but it’s not just the scent of spice. It’s the feeling of warmth from a flame, searing desert winds, and the glow of coals. The scent is dry and hot, with a spicy herbal note, and something green under it all, perhaps rosemary. Oddly, I don't detect any traditionally "fiery" notes in it, like cinnamon."
Review two says: "This is weird. I definitely smell dragon's blood, but there's also this sour, bitter note there that doesn't seem quite right. I recognize it but can't place it. Oh, now that I read Penance's review, it does smell herbal...like fresh thyme or lemongrass, maybe basil. Something with a bit of tartness."
In the bottle: Light, mineral-y.
On the skin: Hmm. A bit of incense and smoke. Plus some other smells I can't identify.
An hour later: OK, but not that special. It's got some of the scents from Desire, but Desire (and the Tower) are better overall both for smell and staying power.
Ace of Cups
Review one1 reads: "Cherry, cherry, cherry. Very bright and playful. There’s something a bit darker and more solid underneath, maybe a touch of wood, but mostly it smells like I spilled a jar of maraschino juice all over myself."
Review two says: "Wow, this doesn't smell like cherry at all on me. It's not the least bit sweet on my skin, what it is is an unusual watery-deep floraly blend with perhaps an undertone of something woodsy/resiny to keep it from being sweet. The cups are related to the water signs, and therefore emotion, and I wondered why I started crying about a half hour after I put it on until I put these two things together. It's a very deep, mysterious fragrance. I like it a lot (crying excepted)."
In the bottle: Light, minerals and citrus.
On the skin: The same, but with a touch of bubble gum. What causes that bubble gum I keep sniffing?
An hour later: More of the same. It's bland and not really for me.
Ace of Pentacles
Review one1 reads: "From Tarot Oils: Black pine, patchouli, honeysuckle, oakmoss, almond and other soft earthen tones.
Oh my, this is EARTH. Warm, comforting, nurturing, sometimes stolid EARTH. It doesn’t have the gritty dryness of Zombi, it’s more like soil used to cultivate crops or fertilize your garden, or the scent of a forest path. There is a slight floral sweetness too, like fresh summer flowers still in their garden bed."
Review two says: "The pine pops out right away, but it’s not at all sharp – more like you brushed past a low-hanging pine branch and the needles tickled your skin, leaving a very soft scent. I can’t quite identify anything else in this scent, but it’s very round and balanced, earthy without smelling like dirt, piney without smelling like PineSol. I also can’t quite decide whether it’s a warm or a cool scent. It’s a bit of both, I think – walking in the woods on a hot muggy day and suddenly feeling a cool breeze from the river. There's a lovely sweetness that develops throughout, more of a honey-ish sweetness than anything overly sugary or floral."
In the bottle: It's another incense whiff.
On the skin: Lovely - patchouli I think. That other smell must be the pine that everyone else is talking about.
An hour later: This has wonderful staying power, definitely another keeper.
1 Note: I tend to put BPAL on before I hunt reviews.
