A baby cat is a kitten...
...but what is a baby bat ?
This question came up yesterday afternoon. Bella knew a poem which said that a baby bat was a bittern, but none of our dictionaries agreed with her.
Does anyone know ?

According to TAMMezine[1]'s "trivia of the day" section, a baby bat is called a pup. I found the same answer at the Jacksonville university homepage, and the biology section of about.com. On balance this is probably accurate.
