Yesterday's shopping trip
My parents were supposed to appear on Monday to babysit whilst I went shopping in London. Because of cold bugs that was put off until yesterday.
The main purchase was a new winter coat for Bea (I'd already bought Ryan one). I had been web browsing and spotted a Next one that I liked. Sadly purchases on-line from Next can only be done by opening an account with them and, frankly, I've had enough hassle from store accounts (and cards) in the past (eg. signing customers up for worthless insurance deals that they have to opt-out of) that I never want to take on another one. Consequently I decided that this was a purchase best made the old fashioned way.
Now Bea has a wonderful, long lilac coat and Ryan has a long sleeved top with a hippo on it. I also got a new pair of leggings, a couple of Body Shop things (lavender bodywash and a passionfruit lipbalm) and generally enjoyed a rare afternoon of shop browsing. As I returned bearing millionaire's shortbread (also known as caramel shortbread), my parents were very happy too.
In the evening
bateleur and I went out for curry. Poppadums (
verlaine - or anyone else - is welcome to correct the spelling), lamb pasanda, chicken korai, keema nan, plain rice (I've never been able to eat pilau rice since my pregnancy) with a pint of kingfisher, followed by a french coffee done properly (ie. with the pouring type of cream). Consequently, this morning my stop on the scales was slightly upsetting.
Today didn't start terribly well. In addition to my ill-timed weighing and my still-present cold, I had to change two of the grossest nappies I've seen in ages. But I'll spare you all the details.
