America, Flat-hunting and Tarrango

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] frax and [livejournal.com profile] cardinalsin came over for dinner after a hard day's flat-hunting.

They arrived looking very tanned, bearing presents for the household. [livejournal.com profile] bateleur received a bottle of hottest chilli sauce, I have a gorgeous handmade notebook (I haven't decided what to use it for yet) and Ryan and Beatrice were given jigsaws. Ryan's was of a hippo (!) and Beatrice's was of a whale.

They talked about their travels in San Francisco and Mexico. It all sounded most enjoyable (scenery, swimming, snorkelling and food) with the exception of the wound [livejournal.com profile] frax received on her hand (which sent her into a Mexican hospital), extreme sun burn and food poisoning.

We also discussed life in their absence (which, apart from Bea's walking, was surprisingly little), their choice of flat (they're waiting to have their offer confirmed) and roleplaying. [livejournal.com profile] frax is planning an Amber game whilst [livejournal.com profile] cardinalsin is deciding whether to run his "like Warhammer 40K" ideas as a set of one-offs or as a campaign.

Bea and Ryan, meanwhile, were delighted to have company. Ryan kept launching toys out of the playpen and crying for them to be returned. Bea, on the other hand, moved from one to the other beaming at both of them and showing off her new-found two-legged dexterity. (Although I think she was disappointed that neither had brought muffins.)

We packed the babies off to bed at about half-seven and got on with food. I had bought a bag of pea pods, so [livejournal.com profile] frax and [livejournal.com profile] cardinalsin helped me shell them (I was the worst of the three of us at opening them), whilst [livejournal.com profile] bateleur got on with the new potatoes and chicken. We also opened a bottle of red Tarrango wine which proved a big hit (and will be hunted for again).

It's going to be good, now that they're moving to the area. They plan to settle in Ealing which isn't too far away and I like the sound of their new flat. Plus we'll see them again on Saturday for more bridge !

After a busy Monday night of London arrivals, [livejournal.com profile] cuthbertcross is due over this evening after she finishes doctoring at her new practice in Esher. More lovely roleplaying new neighbours ! It's going to be a good autumn.

Wow!

Could you tell those two to contact me when they get a chance? I was a bit worried I hadn't heard from them at all after they left San Francisco.

What's this wound then???

Cheers,

Zac

Oh, some random bandit in Mexico fired a shotgun at Becky. Nearly half the round missed, though, so she only lost one arm.

Wait, no, I'm making it up as I go along. <grin>

Yeah...Mexico's banditos use rifles or machetes, not shotguns. ;-)
