Glass Rose (PS2 game historical Japanese murder mystery)

It's a special sort of murder mystery when the choice for murderer is between the butler and the house demon.

Nifty. My money's on the demon.

Mine too. (Which I think is fair to say as I'm still only on the first chapter). Although, said demon is far from proven yet (the two weirdest cast members have mentioned it and that's it).

The story is fascinating. You play a reporter from the present day who takes a friend (Emi) to the old Cinema Mansion (where several murders took place) and both promptly fall through a time warp. Emi gets lost in time (her heart shatters and you have to collect heart fragments) but you appear and are promptly recognised by everyone as the illegitimate son of the first victim (the only death so far). Then it starts getting weirder and the cast list starts getting long.

It's made by the people who did Hotel Dusk. The control system isn't the greatest (it has a mode where you select text from speech to move the investigation along, but not knowing how much of a phrase you need to pick), but the story is excellent.

Needless to say, it's an obscure game.
