In the paper

I caught sight of an advert in someone else's paper this morning. Why would anyone want a barbecue that could fold up and pretend to be a briefcase?

Way to dispose of incriminating documents subtly?

While simultaneously toasting sandwiches?

Nice idea.

Yeah, that's rubbish... now a hat that can turn into a bidet... or a spoon that can turn into a bear trap... or a moustache that can turn into a life-sized model of the pope... or... wait, you can't steal those ideas, those are all patented or copyrighted, or something, you can't steal them, you can't steal my genius... get out... out... get out of my brain!!!

The hat -> bidet thing sounds right dodgy to me.

Ah, well that's 'cos you've missed the genius of it... it doesn't turn back into a hat!

You've never been hanging around a bundle of CEOs in the City when one of them said, "I know! Let's have an impromptu barbeque near Fleet Street!" It's perfectly common.

(Actually, I could see an investment banker trying to do that in Central Park, hoping the entire thing would go all Dejuener Sur L'Herbe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luncheon_on_the_Grass) on him...)

You're right - I haven't! It holds a strange plausibility however (although, not that much).

Is it actively pretending to be a briefcase, or is it just that it folds up for useful portability?

If the latter, then maybe because it means they can sling it in the car and have a barbecue picnic. If the former, erm, maybe to get it onto aeroplanes?

It was focusing more on the "looks like a briefcase" and less on the portability - but that could just be bad advertising.

Someone who really likes steak, but lives a hectic executive lifestyle?

I saw a cushion recently with two foot holes in it, so you could wear it as a big cushion shaped uni-slipper. In my opinion that trumps everything.

Except for the dog coat shaped like a hot dog bun with some mustard, so the dog looks like a sausage. That is a gift from God himself.

Any pictures of the hot dog?!
