Five months, sort of

The twins are now five months from their due date - and consequently will be checked against all the five month milestones. They can both roll over and Ryan can move far and fast; or perhaps I should say that for a baby who can't crawl he moves far and fast.

We've also got them some baby cloth books - you know with the mirrors and the fur bits and the flaps. The only pity with Amazon is that I had to guess from the descriptions whether the books were what I wanted.

Finally, I'm reading The Chronicles of Amber. It's a story that I'm surprised I've never read before; particularly given my impressive speculative fiction library. I'm about 2/3 of the way through (at a rough guess). I may finish today or tomorrow depending on what else I plan to do.

But for now - Ryan needs rescuing...

He appears to undergo a vast character change across the course of the book. Not that he's the only one; Random's development is the weirdest - his dire past is mentioned by everybody but the reader sees few (possibly no) actual signs of it and I consistently regarded him as the good guy.

But, back to Julian. Came across as cruel and noble in general (almost caricature-like), and moving suddenly from dishonourable to honourable. Also his appearances seemed incredibly brief; as though the author really didn't like writing for him. Comparing him to the others - he seemed most like Eric; I imagine partly because Corwin disliked them both.

I also wished that the relationship between him and Corwin had been explored more.

Dawn.
