Father Christmas

Or whatever you want to call him. I guess this means that the last window is the Nativity scene - but I'll have to wait and see.

For the last couple of mornings, I've removed the four delicate decorations and Ryan has ignored the tree. This morning I forgot and he was over there like a shot. So it seems he was trying to lure me into a false sense of security. Certainly none of their presents will be going under the tree this year. Or not before the day itself, anyway.

Having got my Xmas-related "news" out of the way, I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce my innocent readership to The Balamory Karaoke (this is actually the second one, people are welcome to look up the first - of which PC Plum's Song is the best - if they want). I was using it to entertain Ryan last night when I suddenly realised that PC Plum's song is Bohemian Rhapsody. And Penny Pocket's song has stuck in my brain. What do other people think?

Finally, in other news, I'm trying to come up with a new name for my game. As [livejournal.com profile] bateleur called his "The Wheel" I think that calling mine "The Hunt" is definitely a bad move. I'm currently choosing between ICESP (Identification,
Cataloguing and Explanation of Supernatural Phenomena) and Phenomena. On the other hand, maybe I'll go with something completely different.

Doo doo-doo doo...

I'm taking that as a good reason to reject the name.

[identity profile] onebyone.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 11:50 am (UTC)(link)
Certainly I suffered from it when I was running In Nomine, so it mostly depends whether you mind people calling your game "mahnamahna" in conversation.

I think I'm going to learn from your experience.

Damnit. I came to make that joke too! This is what I get for getting up several hours after you. :(

Your life is so hard.

I was going to say I liked 'Phenomena', until I saw what [livejournal.com profile] onebyone said. He's a bad man.

In other news, today I have a statue of some saint or other. Probably St Mark. I'm very fond of the outside of my advent calendar, but I'm increasingly disappointed with its inside :-(

[identity profile] venta.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. That answers my question then. I was wondering if there was anyone left who didn't immediately say "do dooo de doodoo" on reading the word phenomena.

I'm more likely to go "do dooo de doodoo" on hearing the word than on reading it.

[identity profile] bateleur.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't, because that's phenomenon !

[identity profile] onebyone.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
He's a bad man

If it hadn't been me now, it would have been someone else when it was too late to do anything about it.

Or, indeed, secretrebel and venta cum cantibus in choro.

Since I'm not in work today, I can't comment on my advent calendar - unless [livejournal.com profile] onebyone can be persuaded to open the door and report back ?

[identity profile] onebyone.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
You've got a lamb staring at a star. The "10" is in the top right corner of the calendar, where the geographically-appropriate square buildings are. So unless the ancient Hebrews had square planetaria, the lamb in the window is actually outdoors. This is good news for the robin.

[identity profile] a-llusive.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
I like the ICESP one.

[identity profile] onebyone.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Does Penny Pocket normally sound like that, or is she putting on a special "rapper" voice for the first couple of lines of her song? This aside from that fact that I don't think the voice artist is from the same part of the country as Penny.

[identity profile] lathany.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
She normally sounds like that. The Balamory characters have a huge range of accents even though Balamory is set in NI (AFAIK, anyway).

[identity profile] bateleur.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, Tobermory (http://www.tobermory.co.uk/panorama/panorama_tobermory_waterfront.htm) (where Balamory is set) is a Scottish island.

[identity profile] lathany.livejournal.com 2004-12-10 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You're right.

<blushes>

[identity profile] cardinalsin.livejournal.com 2004-12-11 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
No it isn't! Its a village on Mull, which is a Scottish island. On which you can find the smallest theatre in the world!

[identity profile] cardinalsin.livejournal.com 2004-12-11 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
The trouble with ICESP is it doesn't roll off the tongue. Hehe, I've though of one: Supernatural Phenomena Investigation Team (SPIT).
