Temperance 5/10, The Devil 9/10 and The Tower 9.5/10

As I have said in every review, The Tarot series is, sadly, discontinued and therefore is not described on the BPAL site.

Temperance

Review one1 reads: "Floral, maybe sweetpea, perhaps a little dandelion? It really wafts. Temperance is a very light possibly slightly fruity floral. It is completely inoffensive and I can totally see how this embodies the card.."

Review two says: "goes on cool at first and warms up
a refreshing, slightly lemony scent with a bit of floral, and dandelion
very light and whispy."

In the bottle: Vaguely light and lily-like, but not much of a smell.

On the skin: After a liberal dose, I still have to sniff hard to sense this one. It's still slightly floral.

An hour later: Unmemorable and almost non-existent. Not for me.

The Devil

Review one1 reads: "wow this is heavy on the civet, there is a spicy undercurrent, i want to say a tad of cinnamon, but i am not positive cinnamon is it, and could there be possibly amber?

there is something warm lurking something amber like, and cinnamon, but i only smell it in the waft, up against my arm is all civet. like my civet single note....this one is certainly devilish."

Review two says: "I can usually pick up civet a mile away, but I smell a big fat zero of civet in The Devil. I do get a heavy black and red musk mix and some nutmeg and cinnamon. It's very dark, slightly powdery, slightly spicy, and there's a touch of herbal/floral to it down very very deep in the mix. I can say that the floral isn't narcissus because narcissus + civet I could definitely pick up because, man, I'd smell horrible.

I kind of like this, kind of not. There's a slight plasticy, bitter scent that comes up after a while, but it's not at all unpleasant with the whole."

In the bottle: This is all spice and incense.

On the skin: It's very like Desire, with possible a touch of chocolate.

An hour later: More of the same, and it lasts. This one's a keeper.

The Tower

Review one1 reads: "If destruction and upheaval has a scent, this is it. Fiery, crumbling, sharp, spicy, hot, dark. These are all the words that run through my head as I sniff it. Even the color of the oil is a molten black-red. It is immediately a shock to the senses, jarring."

Review two says: "Initial Impression - Djinn with dragon's blood. Only more acrid. Smoky, red, volatile. If Beth wanted to make a "Dragon's Breath" blend, this would be it. Very bitter and unpleasant.

Wearing It - This stays really smoky, burnt, and unpleasant for the first couple of minutes. I left some on my hand while making lunch, ignoring it because I had assumed that it had developed all it would. After all, The Tower depicts a flaming structure, people leaping out -- and personally, I thought that this smelled just perfect for that. But lo and behold, I just sniffed at my hand and I smell...flowers? No really! Flowers. There's this light cherry/fire smell in the background...almost as if there were bits of burnt metal and wood and ash underneath a field of wildflowers. And there really are bits of wood notes in here. Amazing.

Once it's gone through that first sudden change, it becomes a very light perfume. I can't quite pinpoint what florals are in here (not being a very big wearer of floral perfumes), but they make up the majority of the scent right now.

Well, I can't quite get over how amazed I am at how quickly and completely this perfume shape-shifted on me. I love the way that dragon's blood and ashey perfumes smell, but I don't think that this is going to be something I wear that often (since I don't really wear florals). However, I'm not sure whether to swap it or keep it around for meditation..."

In the bottle: This smells like The Devil again, but this time with cinnamon.

On the skin: Lovely - incense and cinnamon.

An hour later: This has wonderful staying power, definitely another keeper. Although I need to be careful that I don't end up keeping just a large number of Desire-like imps.

1 Note: I tend to put BPAL on before I hunt reviews.
