Cat Attack and other Twinlessnesses
We took the duo to Cambridge on Saturday. As is often the case, this meant the start of a twin-free week.
Saturday (evening)
Usually the absence of the twins would have resulted in an evening of some celebration and alcohol. However, the journey had made
bateleur horribly ill, so such things waited until Sunday. Instead I mooched around LJ and played some Star Ocean : Till the End of Time. As the main plot finally picked up speed, I got a lot more into it. I also cleaned up Bea's Mini Kitchen. It's amazing how much actual food stuffs she'd managed to get on a pretend-cook surface.
Sunday
bateleur was still recovering (but did so by the evening - in time for curry, beer and icecream). So there was Book Four planning and more Star Ocean. In particular, I got hopeless confused by the item creation stuff in the game. There was also 24 which I'm enjoying (although, I'm starting to notice common themes - does anyone in CTU have normal relatives?).
Monday
I finished planning Book Four and started actually writing it. No much to say at this point. As Monday was also Valentine's Day we cooked together - Camembert with cranberry, Steak with cauliflower and broccoli cheese and half a baked potato, chocolate pots (vanilla and rum flavour) all with red wine. A fine meal (as ever, the chocolate pots were the best bit :-) ), we felt. To finish off the evening I watched the first half of Pride and Prejudice and
bateleur joined me (he also seemed to enjoy it).
Tuesday
We were supposed to be meeting up with
frax and
cardinalsin on Tuesday. Due to various crossed wires, this didn't happen and was rearranged for Wednesday. Instead there was flower buying (nice, cheap flowers!) and... not much that hadn't happened on previous days. Plus the second half of Pride and Prejudice.
Wednesday
After the crossed wires, Wednesday was our Very Busy day. We had a good start as I began it by registering us with the Telephone Preference Service (we get 3-4 unsolicited calls a week). About an hour after that,
frax and
cardinalsin arrived so we got Cat Attack out of its cellophane (a Christmas present from
bateleur's parents). It's a silly game that works well when no-one takes it too seriously. Your mogs have to either collect all the food stuffs, or kick the cr*p out of the other cats. There are Curiosity Cards and all cats have nine lives - you get the idea. We also played Grass, which required more strategy and less tuna. Plus there were chocolate muffins (although, only after a second Tesco visit), coke, potato cakes and much chat (this included discussion of
elle_'s blatant rigging of the birthday cake poll on
frax's LJ).
In the evening we drove over to
cuthbertcross and
dr_bob's new house. We found it in one after I consulted Multimap (<smug look>) and were given the Grand Tour. It's larger than ours and in a good state of repair and decoration. We were fed chocolatey snacks (including chocolate-covered brazil nuts) whilst dinner was cooking, then chicken, fruit salad and chocolate pots. Also we got to see the official wedding pictures for the first time. I want some of ones where TheHattedOne and I are dressed alike.
Thursday
bateleur took the car in for a service. However, I had another writing and lazy day. This evening we're planning a trip to Swans - our local Chinese restaurant.
And tomorrow
triskellian and
smiorgan will be here!
